My Real Children by Jo Walton – Book Review

I picked up this book based on its intriguing premise of an old woman remembering living two distinct lives. I got a feeling early on that the novel wasn’t going to live up to its promising beginning, and sadly my instincts were proven correct.
National Theatre Live: The Seagull – Film Review

This was a very different trip to the cinema: I went to see a recording of Anton Chekhov’s stage play, filmed at the National Theatre in London and starring a couple of familiar faces including Emilia Clarke.
Constantine – Film Review

I haven’t seen this superhero/horror flick since I first watched it back in 2005 and thought it was mostly meh. I was pleasantly surprised when I gave it a second chance recently, and discovered that it’s actually much, much better than I remembered.
Camille – Film Review

I’ve never seen a Greta Garbo film before, so I watched this 1937 romantic tearjerker which, according to the internet, is a strong contender for her best movie.
The Hound of Death by Agatha Christie – Book Review

Halloween was the perfect time to check out this curious collection from the Queen of Crime: twelve short stories tinged with the fantastical and supernatural.
Aldous Harding @ Elisabeth Murdoch Hall

I almost missed out on the enigmatic Kiwi singer-songwriter’s Melbourne gig, but in the end her live show made me an even bigger fan of her idiosyncratic take on folk.
Apples Never Fall by Liane Moriarty – Book Review

The latest domestic noir from the queen of Sydney suburbia is an indulgent but hugely enjoyable page-turner, exploring family dynamics in the wake of a disappearance.
New Music 10/2022 – Rosalía, Torres, Nilüfer Yanya

I kinda slowed down on the new music in the past few months, and music in general to be honest, because for some reason I’ve preferred listening to YouTube creators and podcasts lately. However I did find time for a few great releases from this and past years.
