As a fan of Christopher Nolan, it pains me to say that I can’t recall the last time I was this disengaged at the cinema. For me, his take on Homer’s epic was mostly a slog, with some redeeming aspects.
Directed by John Boorman and telling the classic story of King Arthur, Excalibur is one of the finest fantasy films ever made and one of my favourite films, period.
