After the Melbourne show rocked my world last week, I was even more excited for my second U2 concert in Adelaide and it was worth every cent spent. Different city, same awesome show from a different perspective.
show
U2 @ Marvel Stadium
The Joshua Tree tour finally landed in Melbourne! I danced, I sang, I lost my voice, I had an absolute ball finally watching my favourite band live again.
Hans Zimmer @ Rod Laver Arena
I had an absolute blast at the last Hans Zimmer concert a couple of years ago, so I jumped at the chance to experience his film score arena extravaganza once again.
Katy Perry @ Rod Laver Arena
Definitely an odd one out for me, but it’s been ages since I’ve been to a big flashy show, and this concert was a fun night out and everything you’d want from an arena pop spectacular. Dancers, costume changes, flying props oh my!
Gogol Bordello @ 170 Russell
I first saw Gogol Bordello almost exactly eight years ago, and that was honestly one of the most fun and memorable gigs I’ve been to. So when this rowdy transcontinental gypsy-punk eight-piece collective showed up in Melbourne once again, I jumped at the chance to catch them in concert.
Grizzly Bear @ Melbourne Zoo
No I’m not talking about the large subspecies of brown bear inhabiting North America, but rather the American indie rock band, whose live show at the Melbourne Zoo grounds I got to enjoy.
Feist @ Forum Theatre
I haven’t been to many live gigs at all this year, either because of financial reasons or the lack of interest in tours on offer. I suspect I’m entering an age where it becomes increasingly harder for new artists and bands to really click with me to the degree where I’d pay money to see them play live. At least I’m closing the year in style with this fantastic concert last Friday at the Forum Theatre, where I got to see the Canadian songbird extraordinaire, Leslie Feist a.k.a. simply Feist.
