New Music 11/2023 – PJ Harvey

After a seven-year break from my all-time favourite artist, I feel positively spoiled with a brand new album and comprehensive collection of rarities, demos and other bits and bobs.
Foy Vance @ The Croxton

I had a good time at what is probably my last music concert of 2023, despite the annoying chatterboxes at the bar.
Sudan Archives @ 170 Russell

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this concert, but Brittney Parks a.k.a. Sudan Archives delivered a fun, energised set of sexy swagger and violin shredding… and even some traditional Irish music.
The Radiohead Project @ Primrose Potter Salon

Sometimes a last-minute decision does pay off! I had a fantastic time at this short but lovely concert that reinvented Radiohead’s music for a jazz quartet with strings.
The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit & The Rings of Power @ Hamer Hall

It’s hard to know how to describe this baffling concert other than a slapdash mix of awkward and sublime. I enjoyed myself in the end, but this wildly uneven production was a very odd fit for such a prestigious venue.
New Music 05/2023 – Neil Young, Beyoncé, Wet Leg

MSO: The Music of Hans Zimmer @ Hamer Hall

There’s no such thing as too much Hans Zimmer! I’ve already seen film music maestro’s own show twice, and this week I went to Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s tribute to some of the most iconic and influential film scores of all time.
Mozart Requiem by Candlelight @ St Paul’s Cathedral
