Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show 2024
Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show is held every year at the beautiful Carlton Gardens and Royal Exhibition Building. I never used to attend, until three years ago when just about every big event looked good in the aftermath of Covid lockdowns. Since then, it’s become a March favourite and every year, I look forward to the show gardens, floral displays, sculptures, gardening booths and people watching.

A magical evening at the Arts Centre, where I finally got to experience one of my all-time favourite classical suites, Gustav Holst’s The Planets.
The Breeders @ Forum Theatre
Awesome start to the new year of live music, with a fantastic show from old favourites that cut through my Monday lethargy.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this concert, but Brittney Parks a.k.a. Sudan Archives delivered a fun, energised set of sexy swagger and violin shredding… and even some traditional Irish music.
The Radiohead Project @ Primrose Potter Salon
Sometimes a last-minute decision does pay off! I had a fantastic time at this short but lovely concert that reinvented Radiohead’s music for a jazz quartet with strings.
The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit & The Rings of Power @ Hamer Hall
It’s hard to know how to describe this baffling concert other than a slapdash mix of awkward and sublime. I enjoyed myself in the end, but this wildly uneven production was a very odd fit for such a prestigious venue.
MSO: The Music of Hans Zimmer @ Hamer Hall
There’s no such thing as too much Hans Zimmer! I’ve already seen film music maestro’s own show twice, and this week I went to Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s tribute to some of the most iconic and influential film scores of all time.
