Halloween is just around the corner, so it’s naturally this week’s theme from That Artsy Reader Girl.
I can safely say that, of all the spooky creatures and monsters, undead skeletons terrified me the most as a child. I have a vivid memory of hovering outside the biology classroom with a couple of other second graders, daring each other to look through the keyhole at the skeleton model. It was obviously fake and didn’t even have a skull, but it still sent us running away in terror. So, here are some book covers featuring skeletons, skulls and bones.

My biology lab did have the whole skeleton, skull and all, but I was always more afraid of old crones like in Snow White than skeletons. Great list, I think I’ve only heard of The Kingdom of the Wicked in this list. I’d like to say I’ll check these books out in the future, but horror is not my thing. It was fun reading your TTT 🙂

I was scared of skeletons too! I think it’s because I started watching true crime shows when I was way too young for them.

I’m sorry skeletons scared you so much. My mom was a nurse, so I always thought about them from a medical point of view as far as seeing how the bones joined together and such. 🙂

I was scared at first before reading The Bone Houses but it ended up being one of my favourite YA fantasies. I’m a big fan of this author’s works! 😍 Great post!

I love this theme and you picked a lot of great looking books! The only one I’ve read is Hallowe’en Party but several others seem like ones I might like, and I started the Discworld but need to read more from it! My Halloween Freebie is here.
