This week’s topic from That Artsy Reader Girl is April Showers. I hate to be caught out in a shower without a sturdy umbrella, so this is my spin on the topic. Whether discreet or punchy, an umbrella can really add some visual interest to a book cover.

1. Mary Poppins by P. L. Travers

2. Almost Home by Pam Jenoff

3. Made You Up by Francesca Zappia

4. Umbrella by Will Self

5. Breakfast on Pluto by Patrick McCabe

6. Rain: A Natural and Cultural History by Cynthia Barnett

7. Forgiving Paris by Karen Kingsbury

8. The Umbrella House by Colleen Nelson

9. Mr Mercedes by Stephen King

10. Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney

I agree that an umbrella can add interest to a cover design. Some of these make me quite curious to look into, like that one by Karen Kingsbury. I am familiar with many of novels, but this one is new to me. 🙂

Great looking covers! I enjoyed reading Mary Poppins and couldn’t believe how different it was to the Disney film 😂
Have a great week!

Thanks! Yes the real Mary Poppins was a bit of a shock to me as well 🙂

The newer film is closer to the original but still not quite there. I couldn’t believe how different she was. It shows what Disney can do 😂

Fantastic list! I struggled sticking to just one thing this week–rain, umbrellas, puddles, etc.

Fun spin on the topic! I also like a good umbrella book cover. It’s funny how they can evoke different emotions depending on how they’re used on a cover.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
